While my Nana(mom's mom) was here we made apple pies! It's a tradition for us in the fall. We made eight pies and still have a TON of apples! :-) Here are some pictures and the recipe we use.. Enjoy!
(Just to let you know we use the 'Pillsbury Pie Crusts'. If anyone has a recipe for pie crust let me know. ) ;-)
Apple pie
Crust~
1 box of Pillsbury pie crust
Filling~
6 cups of sliced and peeled apples (6 medium)
3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp. flour
3/4 tbsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice (one good squirt will work)
1/8 tsp. nutmeg (opt. we don't put any in)
1. Heat oven to 425*. Place 1 pie crust in 9-inch. pan. Press firmly against side and bottom.
2. In large bowl, gently mix filling ingredients: spoon into crust-lined pie plate. Top with second pie crust or crumb topping. Wrap excess top crust under bottom crust edge, pressing edges together to seal. Cut slits or shapes in several places in on top crust. An opt. is to give the pie an egg wash.. (one egg white with same amount of water. Mix.)
3. Bake 40-50 min. or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Cool on cooling rack at least 2 hours before serving.

The pies were great, BUT did anyone notice Jenn is TALLER than me!!??
Yup! It works for me to get on!
i do have a few recipes for pie crusts...maybe I'll send 'em to you!
Great picture of you, Allison, and Nana! You should compare that to one when y'all were itty bitty and made pies with Nana. You and Allison have gotten so much taller since the last time I've seen you!
The pies look great too! Folks don't make apple pies around here. They make a lot of fig cake though, since there are so many fig trees!
Hi Jennifer! I just found your blog and thought I would leave you a comment! :D
The apple pie looks good!
